Human wellbeing is dependent on healthy and well-managed oceans. To underpin robust, transparent and sustainable management, we develop models that describe the functioning of marine systems, help us understand how systems respond to anthropogenic forcing and impacts, and explore how different management strategies can improve sustainable management and ocean health.

Research areas at UQ in modelling marine systems include applications in fisheries, conservation, nutrient cycling, ecosystem health and addressing human impacts, especially climate change.
