If you are a medical student or a practitioner who wants to travel abroad, treat patients in a developing country and understand their health care system, then you can be a part of the affordable medical volunteering projects. These projects are available in Tanzania, Costa Rica, Peru, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, and Cambodia. The scenario will vary from country to country and once you be there, you'll understand the exact problems that people of the country have to face. Joining a volunteering project is the best way to connect to the people of the host community. Being a medical volunteer, the main task would be to work with doctors and nurses in the local hospitals. First and second-year medical students usually work under the supervision of professional doctors, nurses while the 3rd and final year students and medical practitioners are endowed with handling the patients. The programs are available throughout the year and volunteers can choose the duration from a minimum of 1 week to 6 months, depending on their convenience.
